Rozy Gives Birth, But Walks Away

A bittersweet moment unfolded today in our monkey family. Rozy, a beautiful hybrid monkey, gave birth to a tiny newborn. But what should have been a moment of warmth and bonding quickly turned into sadness—Rozy walked away, abandoning her baby just after birth.

The newborn, fragile and still adjusting to life, was left alone and helpless. There was no grooming, no nursing, no mother’s touch—just silence and confusion. The baby cried softly, reaching out for warmth and comfort that never came from the one who brought it into the world.

Rozy, still young and perhaps overwhelmed, showed no interest in her newborn. This sometimes happens in the animal world, especially with first-time or stressed mothers. It doesn’t mean Rozy is cruel—it may simply mean she wasn’t ready or didn’t know how to care for the baby.

Thankfully, the caregivers stepped in quickly. The baby was carefully lifted, warmed, and fed. Though nothing can replace a mother’s care, the team is doing everything possible to make sure this tiny life has a chance to grow and feel love.
