Little Leo is still learning the ways of the monkey world. Curious and full of energy, he sometimes pushes limits—just like any young one does. But this time, his playful actions crossed a line, and Mama Libby had to correct him.
She gave him a stern warning—not through violence, but with firm body language, a loud vocalization, and a clear gesture that said, “No.” To her, it was discipline. To Baby Leo, it was confusing, scary, and deeply upsetting.
His tiny face changed instantly.
His eyes welled up. His lips trembled. The sound he made wasn’t loud—it was soft, shaky, and full of heartbreak. In that moment, Leo didn’t just feel scared—he looked emotionally overwhelmed. He slumped down and appeared nearly faint, as if the shock of being scolded was too much for his tiny heart.
He didn’t understand she was trying to teach him. All he felt was that the one who usually gave him comfort and warmth had suddenly pushed him away.
A nearby caregiver noticed and gently approached. They scooped up little Leo, cradling him close, letting him feel safe again. Slowly, his breathing returned to normal, and the color came back into his face. Though he was still sad, he was no longer afraid.
