It was a difficult and painful scene to witness — a mother monkey acting cold and distant, even cruel, toward her own baby. The tiny infant clung to her with all its strength, desperately seeking comfort, warmth, and milk. But instead of returning love, the mother tried to shake the baby off… again and again.
She pushed, pulled, and even dragged her little one, as if trying to be free of the responsibility. The baby cried out, its tiny voice full of fear and confusion, not understanding why the one it trusted most was turning it away.
This kind of behavior can sometimes happen in the wild — when a mother is too young, overwhelmed, sick, or stressed by troop dynamics. Still, it doesn’t make the moment any less heartbreaking.
