A moment of deep concern struck the sanctuary today when Rainbow, a beloved young male monkey, suddenly collapsed and fainted in front of caregivers and troop members. Known for his playful energy and gentle nature, Rainbow had been active just hours before—swinging, climbing, and following the older juveniles. But in an instant, everything changed.
Witnesses say Rainbow had been unusually quiet that morning. He skipped breakfast, stayed close to a corner, and didn’t respond to the other monkeys’ playful invitations. Caregivers were keeping a close eye on him when he suddenly wobbled, lost his balance, and fainted right there on the ground.
The troop froze. One older female rushed to his side, touching him gently as if trying to wake him. Caregivers reacted fast, running in to lift the little one and check his breathing. Thankfully, his tiny chest was still rising and falling—but he was unconscious, limp in their hands.
Rainbow was quickly taken to the medical enclosure, where a team began hydrating him and checking for signs of injury, dehydration, or illness. The early diagnosis pointed to heat exhaustion and possible low blood sugar—both common in young monkeys if they haven’t been feeding properly or are under stress.
