When the doctor gently lifted the fragile little monkey onto the examination table, everyone could see how painful his condition had become. His skin was covered with scabs, bumps, and irritated patches that made him scratch constantly. Each scrape revealed how long he had been suffering, and the rescuers knew they needed clear answers. That is why the veterinarian decided to perform a proper diagnostic test — a skin scraping and culture — to identify exactly what was causing the infection.

The monkey stayed surprisingly calm during the procedure. Maybe he sensed that these hands were different from the ones that had failed him before. The doctor carefully took small samples from several affected areas, placing the tiny flakes of skin and crusts into sterile containers. These samples were examined under a microscope and later tested in the lab to identify bacteria, fungi, or parasites. The rescuers waited anxiously, hoping for results that would guide a safe and effective treatment plan.

When the tests finally came back, they revealed a combination of issues — something sadly common in animals who have lived in neglect. The primary cause was a severe fungal infection, likely ringworm, which explained the spreading patches of hair loss and crusty circles on his skin. This type of fungus is highly contagious and thrives in dirty environments, making it almost certain he had contracted it long before his rescue. Alongside the fungus, the doctor found mites consistent with mange, a parasitic infestation that burrows into the skin and causes extreme itching, bumps, and inflammation.

Fortunately, there was good news within the diagnosis: both conditions are treatable with proper medical care. The doctor created a clear plan — antifungal medication, medicated baths, ointment for the lesions, and a course of antiparasitic treatment to eliminate the mites. The baby monkey would also receive nutritional support to help strengthen his immune system, since malnourished animals often struggle to heal.

Although the results showed how badly he had been neglected, they also offered hope. Now that the exact causes were identified, every day of treatment would bring relief: less itching, smoother skin, healthier fur, and growing comfort. The baby who once cried from pain could finally begin to feel safe in his own body again.

With patience, warmth, and steady medical care, the little monkey’s damaged skin — and his trust — would slowly begin to heal.
