In a shaded corner beneath the forest trees, little Chamroeun’s high-pitched cries rose above the gentle sounds of his troop. Usually playful and sweet, Chamroeun was far from calm today. His small face was scrunched in frustration, his tiny hands clutched at his father’s fur, and his voice carried a clear demand: he wanted milk—and he wanted it now.
Chamroeun had been growing restless all morning. He had already tried to find comfort by nestling close to his father, tugging at him in the hope of being fed quickly. But his father, balancing the many duties of troop life, did not respond as swiftly as Chamroeun wished.
With each moment that passed, Chamroeun’s impatience grew louder. He squealed and shouted, tiny cries turning into angry, demanding calls that echoed through the clearing. His little feet pushed against the ground as he rocked back and forth, as if trying to force his father to act faster.
Other young monkeys paused their play to watch the drama unfold. Some tilted their heads in curiosity, while older members of the troop glanced over with mild annoyance at Chamroeun’s tantrum. His father, however, remained calm. He understood that this show of impatience was part of Chamroeun’s growing spirit—a sign of his strong will and determination to have his needs met.
