Mother Rose Refuses to Nurse Him

Tiny Robin, the baby monkey, stood close to his mother, Rose, his eyes full of hope. Like any young baby, he wanted only one thing—his mother’s milk and the warmth that comes with it. But today, something was different.

As Robin reached out to nurse, Rose turned away. Gently at first, then firmly, she pushed him aside. He didn’t understand. He wasn’t trying to bother her—he just felt hungry, tired, and in need of her comfort.

Robin tried again, more hesitantly this time. But once more, Rose refused.

The little one sat down quietly, his shoulders low, eyes still watching her, waiting. After a few moments, he let out soft cries—not loud or dramatic, but full of sadness. His tiny face told a silent story: Why not today, Mama?

Sometimes in the monkey world, mothers begin to wean their babies as they grow. This process can be confusing and painful for the young, especially when the change comes suddenly or without comfort. For some mothers, stress, troop pressure, or past trauma may make it harder to provide the nurturing their baby needs.
