In the quiet shade near a forest path, a small newborn monkey named Candy was exploring the world for the first time. Her movements were clumsy, her legs unsteady, but her spirit was full of curiosity. Her soft eyes watched the older monkeys leap from tree to tree, hoping to be welcomed among them.
But not all introductions go gently.
As Candy stepped too close to an older female monkey, hoping for play or warmth, the unexpected happened. Without warning, the adult monkey turned and delivered a strong kick. Tiny Candy tumbled backward, her fragile body hitting the ground with a soft thud.
Stunned, she lay still for a moment, confused and hurt. Her small chest heaved with frightened breaths. Then, with all the strength her tiny legs could manage, she scrambled toward the rocks nearby, her instinct guiding her to hide.
She squeezed into the space between two stones, trembling, her wide eyes watching from the shadows. She didn’t understand why she was rejected, or why the world suddenly felt so cruel. Her body ached, but her heart ached more.
Nearby, a caretaker saw the moment unfold and quickly approached. Speaking softly, they crouched near the stone where Candy had taken refuge. Slowly, patiently, they reached out a gentle hand.
At first, Candy didn’t move. But when the kind hand stayed still, she slowly leaned out, recognizing the calm tone, the warmth, the safety.
She was lifted gently, held close, and wrapped in soft cloth. The stone had hidden her from harm, but now arms of care would help her heal.
In that quiet moment, Candy closed her eyes, her tiny body relaxing. Though her day had begun with pain, she ended it in safety — and that’s where her healing would begin.
